In 2025, China's shipbuilding industry once again demonstrated its strength on the global stage, delivering an impressive annual performance. As in previous years, the International Shipping Network has selected the 10 most distinctive new ships (note: ranked by delivery date) from among the numerous vessels delivered by Chinese shipyards throughout the year. This comprehensive review highlights the outstanding achievements of China's shipbuilding sector over the past year and looks forward to Chinese shipbuilders continuing to scale new heights on the path of high-quality development in 2026.
1.The world's most powerful pile driving ship, "Erhang Changqing"

On January 5th, the delivery ceremony for the 150-meter pile-driving vessel "Erhang Changqing," built by Zhenhua Heavy Industries for China Communications Second Harbor Engineering Bureau, was held at Zhenhua Heavy Industries. This vessel boasts the world's tallest pile frame, the largest pile-lifting capacity, the longest driving capability, and the strongest resistance to wind and waves.
With an overall length of 130.5 meters, a molded breadth of 40.8 meters, a molded depth of 8.4 meters, and a pile frame height of 150 meters, the vessel is capable of driving piles with a maximum weight of 700 tons and a diameter of 7 meters.
The vessel is the first in the industry to adopt a diesel-electric hybrid DC grid system equipped with supercapacitors, significantly improving fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. It features the world's largest 5,000-ton thrust ultra-large hydraulic cylinder, independently developed and manufactured in China. Additionally, it is equipped with a pile-driving positioning system with offshore satellite differential capabilities, enabling centimeter-level precision in deep-sea pile-driving operations. The vessel also incorporates an intelligent pile-driving operation management system that integrates real-time hydrological parameter sensing, operational decision support, automatic process identification, and automated pile-driving data generation. This system effectively enhances the intelligence and digitalization of vessel operations, setting a new benchmark for the intelligent and green development of pile-driving vessels.
2.The most intelligent deep-sea aquaculture vessel "Guoxin No. 1-2-1".

On April 17, the globally first 150,000-ton-class intelligent fishery aquaculture vessel "Guoxin No. 1-2-1," built by Beihai Shipbuilding (a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited) for Qingdao Guoxin Group, was named and delivered. As an upgraded version of the world's first 100,000-ton-class aquaculture vessel "Guoxin No. 1," "Guoxin No. 1-2-1" embodies the mission of advancing China's deep-sea aquaculture equipment.
The vessel has an overall length of 244.9 meters and a breadth of 45 meters. It is equipped with 15 large aquaculture tanks, with a total tank capacity of 96,000 cubic meters. Through technical upgrades such as aquaculture water volume expansion, seawater exchange system optimization, power load adjustment, and the integration of photovoltaic power generation systems, the vessel significantly enhances automation, intelligence, and economic efficiency. It also features multi-factor collaborative aquaculture testing capabilities.
The delivery of this vessel provides a new pathway for addressing the decline in traditional fishery resources and the environmental challenges of near-shore aquaculture. Its autonomous navigation system and deep-water intake system enable it to avoid natural disasters and optimize the aquaculture environment, promoting the transformation of marine fisheries toward intelligence and modernization. This injects new momentum into the national maritime strategy and the upgrading of the fishery industry.
3.The largest methanol-ready roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ship, "Anji Ansheng".
