To strengthen product quality fundamentals, Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltdhas initiated a "Welding Quality Improvement Month" campaign this month, themed "Every Weld Becomes Our Commitment." The activity aims to comprehensively enhance construction quality in critical processes through training, competitions, and specialized inspections.
Ship welding represents a core process in shipbuilding, with its quality directly impacting the structural safety and service life of vessels. During the campaign, the quality department organized multiple theoretical training sessions and hands-on drills, focusing particularly on newly hired welders and subcontractor teams to reinforce adherence to standard procedures. Meanwhile, several quality inspection points were established at the building berth and dock construction sites to conduct sampling checks and non-destructive testing on welds of ships under construction.
Additionally, the shipyard held a welder skills competition, providing an platform for outstanding technical workers to showcase their expertise and exchange knowledge, thereby fostering an atmosphere of "competing, learning, catching up, and surpassing." A veteran welder who won awards in the competition remarked, "The ship's hull is like a house on the sea, and welding forms its skeleton. It is our duty to make this skeleton strong and reliable."
Through this campaign, the first-time pass rate for hull inspections has significantly improved. The shipyard management stated that such quality initiatives focusing on specific processes will be continued as a long-term effort.
